I had an idea for improving my week, whilst I should have been sleeping, by making one morning each week an escape morning.
This is a morning where for a few hours just after waking, I head somewhere different and just chill, think, walk or write.
I started this today at Aramoana Mole.
I just watched the NZ premiere of Uproar at the Regent Theatre. Set in Dunedin during the 1981 Springbok Tour, which divided the nation.
At the heart, it is the story of a young boy trying to find their place in the world. But has many more layers of context due to the time, location and background of the characters.
I found it well crafted. It had me laughing. It also had me with some watery eyes.
I’ve envied MagSafe charging on iPhones for awhile as it makes docking so easy.
Now that the Qi2 wireless charging standard has similar mag tech. I will only buy a new phone that includes Qi2.
In the meantime, I’m looking at getting a stick-on magnetic ring for my case, so I can start using it now.
📷 I really do enjoy coming home to a dark house that looks out to the street on a foggy rainy night. Putting some music on and getting into a little dance groove by myself.

⚽ Another tight game today for Barça at Mallorca. Some good plays and the fight back from being down a goal twice.
The 2nd of 3 games in 7 days, so good to see some rotation of players.
Hopefully we can get a win in the next game against a struggling Sevilla.
⚽ Nice to see that Real Madrid has not made a late comeback in the derby, as they have done recently.
I’m very happy that Barça is now above them in the league for the first time this season. It makes the comeback against Celta yesterday, more sweeter.
For the most part I don’t mind the new Slack design and it has some good ideas to decrease how distractive it is.
But it has made me move to using the web app over the desktop app, as I can then have tabs for specific conversations and it doesn’t open new windows on some other random desktop.
Listening to an episode of RNZ Country Life and seeing how far agri-tech has come since I was growing up on the farm.
Especially this massive spraying drone.
Another benefit of listening to podcasts that are a few months old, is the interesting perspective on the current events in the podcast.
You feel like a time traveler, as you can often answer the unknown questions at the time.
You can also more easily understand the relative importance of the event.
A benefit of being 6 months behind my podcast queue, is that my current season in NZ matches the season in the podcast I’m listening to. At least for podcasts from north of the equator.
Have spent a bit of time looking into an alternative now that Twitter no longer exists and is now an X.
I have been wanting something that I have a bit more control over and more open. I looked at Blue Sky and Threads but a nope for Facebook and closer behind invites. So trying micro.blog.
There is a lot to like about it and some other things, I’m not sure off or aware of yet. it has only been about an hour. i will see how it goes.
